Cool project called COMNET from the Fund for the City of New York that has a lot of relevance to local action/ neighborhood projects. The main aim is to get people in touch with their local representatives about the state of public space/facilities. Basically people take pictures with camera-equipped PDAs which can then be sent via email to their local gov’t representatives. I like how it gets people working together out on the streets to create a collective vision of the state of the neighborhood. Short description from their site:

“ComNET, a program created by the Fund’s Center on Municipal Government Performance (CMGP), introduces easily operated hand-held computers to community organizations so that troublesome street level conditions can be recorded and tabulated quickly, easily and accurately.”
