Today Kaki and I led the DIY Wearable Challenge workshop here in Tallinn, Estonia at the Estonian Academy of Arts! It went really well with some great projects that workshoppers built in only 5 hours! Included was a wearable radio scanner (pictured) sewn with conductive thread where the station changes when the wearer’s wrist touches their shoulder. Another project was some baby’s clothing with flexible contact switches on the feet and back that connected to pants of the parents. When the baby was seated on their lap, it triggered sounds to play. Also, there was a hat with embedded speakers and a microphone that amplified external sounds for the wearer. So you can wear a hat over your ears and actually hear things.. Nice! Overall it was a lot of fun with some great projects! We get to do the same workshop in three days for ISEA!
