We’ve arrived here at Ars Electronica 2004 in Linz, Austria! So far the festival has been very active – lots of presentations, exhibition openings, events, and performances have happened and it’s only 2 days old! Yesterday’s “Networks of Power” panel with Josh On of Futurefarmers was really inspirational as he spoke about how the power of social networks is dependent on the people within them, not the research that attempts to define them. Today the symposium begins – the topics are PROGRESS and DISRUPTION – I will be presenting the opening section on DISRUPTION focusing on the history of Ars and projects that demonstrate or show how disruption exists in this setting. Difficult but should be fun!
