Here at the DIS 2004 we were trying to find out how to get on the Wifi network so we began to use the ad-hoc network function of our wireless cards to broadcast instant messages to the conference. The above screenshot shows the names of the nodes and how people responded. In the end we were able to communicate over both conference rooms of the event and ask people in the next room how the talks were going! There were probably about 4 or 5 people using the SSIDs to text messages each other and share thoughts. SSID Messaging, it’s the wave of the future!
