ServerProject is a “site-specific networked electronic performance comprising four people each working with a laptop computer and various software applications, connected over a network to a server computer. While this is taking place, performers may record various extracts of the sound captured by a microphone positioned centrally in the gallery. These recordings are then written to the server computer and can then be downloaded to individual machines to be manipulated and played out again through the speakers.” Part generative, part playful, part noise, ServerProject is a glimpse at the future of collaborative sound performance where remixing of live sounds in real-time actually define the success of the outputted music.
