“? fish, plant, rack ? allows the navigational electrical discharges of the virtually blind elephant fish ?gnathonemus petersi? to instruct the actions of a robot whose task is to monitor the development of plants in a hydroponic system.” So one “blind” fish leading another “blind” fish to water? Sounds a bit like Ken Rinaldo’s Mediated Encounters which detects movements in fish and allows them to move their tanks when they veer to the right or left. I guess taking it one step further (vertical movement) would allow the fish to escape their tanks altogether! In any case, the idea of animals controlloing robots is not very new (monkeys in space!) but in this case there is a symbiotic relationship between the two entities so it’s ummm a bit more copacetic.
