We finally escaped Ars Electronica (just kidding – it was great!) and are now at UBICOMP in Nottingham, UK where we are participating in a workshop on “ZOOKE”, which is a camera phone based challenge game that has been replicated in many different projects recently. Other projects discussed by Michelle Kasperzak included “Elephant Paths” from Latvia that maps tracks people take off of the standard routes and “Amsterdam Real Time” that plots a map of amsterdam from people’s daily movements through the city. Also presented was “Citi-Tag”, a mixed reality game that attempts to bring “freeze tag” into the digital age through a location-based system – pretty wacky but kinda played out. Overall a good mix of presentations and discussion and probably the best experience of any UBICOMP I’ve attended yet. More to come..
