Since I fell ill, I’ve spent a few (unpleasant) hours in hospital emergency rooms waiting for doctors (and probably will spend more hours in them). The strange thing is that these rooms, despite their boring aesthetics, somehow tend to make me feel much better. It might be the anticipation of seeing a doctor, or the depression of seeing the other patients waiting (who always seem a lot worse than you do), but for some reason just the act of going to the ER and sitting in the waiting room for a few hours definitely takes the psychological edge off of the discomfort you are feeling. Today I didnt go to the ER (thank goodness) but instead hung out at home and walked around the city a bit, got lunch, and pretty much took it easy. Rest seems to be the best medicine yet (oh and hospital waiting rooms – those work pretty well too).
