Deadline Games’ project, “On The Farm” puts you in the shoes of two kids living on a farm. From the website: “Town dwellers Will and Elizabeth have bought a farm in the country. And it is not going particularly well. Fortunately the two children, Mike and Molly, come to visit – and then things get going. Because the children help out, the adults have time to get new animals and build extensions to the farm – and the best thing is that the children get to choose them.” There’s no “goal” in this game.. its about exploration and hanging out on the farm. I saw game designer, Simon Andreasen, give a talk about this game back in 2001 and its still pretty unique in its design from most games I’ve ever seen.
