Tony Dunne at the Royal College of Art just sent me a copy of the new “Design Interactions” catalog for 2007. Pretty impressive collection of student work in this volume, including “Webfare” by Eriko Matsumura – pictured above – which is a way of clearing your desktop by blowing into a tube which then scatters your icons all over the place. This physicality reminds me a bit of my own work with the “LiveWindow” project as well as the “Klima Kontrolle” project which pointed a fan at a computer monitor and blew away all the files and folders. Anyways, the book is definitely worth checking out!
