Just arrived in Bilbao last nite, and got to see Richard Stallman give a talk this morning on the “Free Software” movement – from the days before the printing press to today’s information society. He made a point that downloading music is better for artists because when you buy CDs the artists (except the very rich ones) are not getting a penny from the sales. I heard the same thing a while back about musicians making more cash off sales from merch at shows than their CDs in stores. I was wondering what Stallman thought about downloading feature films – whether or not the people who work on feature films get paid more from box-office royalties than they do from normal hourly work? The question also remains as to how Stallman makes a living? and, umm.. what’s not corrupt?
