At the Kiasma show here in Helsinki for ISEA 2004, Pamela Jennings‘s Constructed Narratives project (pictured above at the opening) consists of physical blocks that people manipulate which generates a 3D representation of the configuration and hacks into WordNet to display narrative text. This reminds me a lot of Matt Gorbet of Hiroshii Ishi’s Tangible Media Group at the MIT Media Lab’s Triangles which allows people to build custom digital shapes through hands-on manipulation.

Also at the show was a series of spinning LED message board streetlamps with keyboards at the base. Passerbyers could type into the keyboard and leave messages on the spinning lights. Here’s a picture of the base (I will try to find the artist’s name!) which is really amazingly constructed!
