Deadbolt A.I. is a machine learning take on home security systems that forces visitors trying to enter a residence to solve a Captcha for entry. The project aims to connect the virtual concept of “bots” with physical architectural spaces to show and exemplify how we are now susceptible of being “hacked” even in our own homes to predatory A.I. agents. Inspired by “To Protect and Server“.

The project is based on Google’s ReCaptcha A.I. system of checking if visitors to a website are human or not. Instead, this forces visitors to a physical home or location to pronounce themselves as human before entering or gaining access to the space. Visitors are confronted with different screens asking them these three questions to identify images:
- Select All Images of the Neighbor Watching
- Select All Images of Breaking and Entering
- Select All the Images of Doorknobs
